Ontario Provincial Police arrested the subjects of an ongoing investigation on a recent Wednesday evening. Reportedly, the OPP in Quinte West received information about a particular eastbound vehicle on Highway 401, occupied by two individuals who had outstanding arrest warrants for robbery. The two Ontario residents are now awaiting their return to Windsor where they will each face several drug charges.
An OPP report indicates that officers on the highway activated the patrol car's emergency lights in an attempt to stop the suspects' vehicle. However, that driver is said to have disregarded the orders of the officers, and a chase ensued. It ended in the arrest of the two vehicle occupants. OPP revealed that both individuals -- a 31-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman -- were suspects in an ongoing drug investigation that was initiated 12 weeks earlier.
The investigation has already yielded numerous arrests and seizures of synthetic fentanyl, prescription drugs and methamphetamine. The two accused individuals each face charges of trafficking methamphetamine, fentanyl and ecstasy. Officers added additional charges of dangerous vehicle operation while disqualified, and breach recognizance to the man's charge. The woman will also face a charge of breach of probation.
While this investigation is reportedly still in its initial stages, the two accused individuals must now focus on their defense options. At this point in time, they have likely already consulted with an experienced Ontario criminal defense lawyer. Any person who is facing drug charges will benefit from having skilled legal counsel in his or her corner. A lawyer will explain the consequences of conviction, examine the evidence to be proffered in court and advocate on behalf of the client throughout the legal proceedings, aiming for the best possible outcome.
