A man dressed up as the popular superhero Spider-Man was arrested by the police in Ottawa. According to reports, he was allegedly wearing a mask that looked like Spider Man's face and attempting to talk to children, including at least one who was just 12 years old. Concerned citizens called the police, and they made the arrest.
Reports do show that the man who was arrested is in his teens himself. The police picked him up on charges of lewd and lascivious behavior. He was driving a white pickup truck at the time.
Over the last few months, the police say they have gotten a number of these reports. They also think that there are other victims or potential victims that they do not know about. As such, they're reaching out to the public and asking anyone who has information -- both those who may have been victimized and those who may have seen something -- to come forward.
The police said that they had trained personnel on hand to help anyone who had been involved in a sex-related crime. They said they just wanted to help these people feel comfortable and give them assistance from the start of the investigation all the way through a potential court case.
It is worth noting, however, that reports do not indicate exactly what the young man may have done wrong, as they just implied that he was talking to children. It's important for those who have been accused of sex crimes to get a fair trial and to know their rights, especially when they feel they haven't actually broken the law.
