According to a recent news report, a man was allegedly running a marijuana operation in North Grenville.
Ontario Provincial Police raided the man's home at about 11:20 in the morning and allegedly seized 104 marijuana clones, 19 mature plants, and marijuana bud which allegedly weighed 63.7 grams.
The man, who is 50 years old and is from North Grenville faces drug charges for the grow operation, including charges for possessing the drugs with the intent to distribute and sell them. He's also facing weapons charges regarding a firearm that was in his possession.
The police booked him and then allowed him to leave if he said he would come back for his court date. A bail amount has not been noted.
When a drug bust happens, there are a few key components that have to fall into place properly. For example, the police typically need a warrant to enter a person's residence, and they also need to have a reason to obtain that warrant. If these steps are not followed properly, evidence that is gathered may not be allowed in court.
As such, it's crucial for those who have been accused to know how these steps work, what the police were supposed to do, and what legal options they have if the right steps were not followed. If a conviction is reached, the man could face consequences that will affect his future in many unexpected ways.
